Education
A life-long resident of Rutherford County, I received my education at the schools of Todd Lane. David Youree in 1986 is where my school experience began. The Letter People and a Thanksgiving play held in the cafeteria next to that strange metal dividing wall are my few but fond memories of kindergarten. I made the block of public education by then attending Smyrna Primary, Thurman Francis and Smyrna Middle before graduating from Smyrna High in 1999. All things band and track occupied my time in high school.
After high school, I started college in Memphis before taking a semester off and coming back home to finish my bachelors and masters at MTSU. I received my bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies (Elementary Education grades K-8) in December of 2004 making me the first member of my family to graduate from college. My love for learning took me back to MTSU to earn my masters of Education in Literacy with a Reading Specialist endorsement in August of 2009.

Experience
My teaching career began at David Youree with my first class of first graders in 2005. I spent the next 6 school years teaching in the challenging but rewarding world of first grade! Learning to read was and still is the major work of first grade and this sparked my interest in the specialty of reading. When the opportunity presented itself to use my Reading Specialist endorsement, I moved from the classroom to RTI for 5 years. I worked both as a Reading and Math Intervention Coach and later Reading and Math Interventionist. An opportunity arose again, this time for me to head back into the classroom, and I found my truest calling as a kindergarten teacher! I am honored to be a part of the founding faculty at Rocky Fork Elementary and blessed to continue serving such a wonderful community. While my 16th school year will look like nothing before, I am excited to help a new group of kindergartners find their love of learning!
