Hi families, I’m a little delayed getting this posted but I wanted to celebrate the awesome event we had on Friday. Donuts with Dad was so much fun and we had a really great turnout. Did you know dads can craft? The kids were so excited to make their dads finger paint! For the little ones whose dad couldn’t make it, many of the children were lovingly “sharing” their dad. We enjoyed donut holes, juice and milk. Thanks to Kensley’s dad for bringing the milk! 🥛 -Mrs. Smith

Hi families! I hope everyone is enjoying the extra family time this week. I just wanted to take a moment to share some holiday themed pictures and thoughts. Thank you for allowing me to spend my day laughing and learning beside your sweet children. I love my job because I love your children and I love watching them learn and grow and dream big dreams for their future. -Mrs. SmithHi families! Yesterday was wild and crazy as we celebrated birthdays all day long! This is the first time I have shared this special day with one of my students and it made such a fun memory. My mother and brother stopped by with hats, balloons and little cupcakes. Later in the day we had Little Debbie treats from Jonah. Then we even celebrated Tori’s Sunday birthday with more cupcakes. Were you wondering why your children came home bouncing off the walls!? 😁 -Mrs. SmithHi families! We had a fantastic lunch today celebrating this time of year when we give thanks for our many blessings. It was so nice (although a little hectic) having so many families join us in the cafeteria for lunch today. If you couldn’t make it today you are always welcome in our classroom and the children would love to see you for lunch any old day! I hope I snapped a picture of everyone who came today. Check out these sweet smiles! -Mrs. SmithHi families, I have completely neglected my blogging duties this year! Class Dojo has taken over as our main form of keeping up with the classroom but I realized that we have many friends who love to hear about our classroom that aren’t connected to our Dojo! I considered making this post a recap of our school year until now but that seems a little excessive. You can check out our Year of Memories page to take a peek at all of the fun we have had together. More posts to come soon! -Mrs. SmithHi families! What an awesome first day we had with half of our class! We practiced everything from sitting on the carpet to using offices. Everyone made some new friends and had a lot of fun. I can wait to have the other half of our class on Monday and then everyone together on Tuesday! Have a great weekend! -Mrs. SmithHi families! Welcome, or welcome back, to David Youree! Tomorrow, Monday, is the big day to see many of you again or meet some of you for the first time. I'm so excited I'll hardly sleep tonight. If you are a returning student to our school, you will come tomorrow between 7:30-9:30 to fill out registration paperwork and meet your new teacher. Please bring a water or electric bill or a lease agreement to prove residency in our zone. If if you are new to our school you may have already filled out registration paperwork. In that case you will get to meet your child's teacher. If you have an incoming kindergarten student you either registered in the spring and had your child screened or will need to take care of that this week. Kindergarten parent orientation will be this Thursday, August 10th from 6-7pm. I can't wait to see you all! -Mrs. SmithHi families, It is tax free weekend! Time to go out and shop for back to school clothes and school supplies. Use the links below to see supply lists and more details about the tax holiday. This week teachers have been busy in their classrooms, attending trainings and even took a little time to have lunch together. I was so busy visiting with our new teachers during lunch at Miller's Grocery that I forgot to take pictures! I did get this great pic at Rutherford County's two day conference. Mrs. Helton, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Schott and I had a great time learning together! Enjoy those last few days of summer vacation and I can't wait to see you soon! -Mrs. SmithHi families, Today was the first day many of us were allowed to return to the school this summer due to construction. Usually I take June for my family and once July 1st rolls around I'm back in my classroom getting ready for the next school year. This summer has been a little different because of all the construction going on at the school. I feel bad for some of my teacher friends because there are a few who still cannot get back in their classrooms yet! Here's what my room looked like when I got to school. 😱 In years past the custodians have placed our big furniture items for us. This year they have a new waxing machine so the process was a little different. Construction has also kept them busy with surprises. Luckily, Mr. Mindigo was able to help me move the really big stuff! Here's what my room looked like a few hours later. There is still a lot of work to do but I am excited to get ready for August! I hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of summer and I'm looking forward to seeing you soon. 😄 -Mrs. Smith |
