Hi families, We’ve been incredibly blessed over the past month with amazing supporters on Donors Choose. Several of you have even given to our projects and I feel so blessed to have your support of our classroom! Some of our new items arrived and we dove right in today with our new 3Doodlers. For our first project, to learn how the pens worked, each child wrote his or her first intital on a paper to trace with their color of choice. The kids were so excited to test out the pens and many were even more excited to find out they could take their letter home! Many of the letters were brittle and we talked about how next time we will use more lines so the plastic will not be as thin. This is definitely a work in progress with a learning curve for all of us! I look forward to showing you more projects as the kids become 3D pen experts. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this new resource to our classroom! -Mrs. Smith

Hi families, I'm really excited right now to have 2 projects on Donors Choose that qualify for matching funding. Please take a look and share on Facebook. I would love to get these project funded before match funding runs out. -Mrs. SmithHi families! I realize this is two posts in one day, and that it is summer and no one is probably even reading this, but I'm just too excited not to share! The most awesome email landed in my inbox today from Donors Choose saying my math professional development project had been funded!! Woooo hoooo😆. It is like my birthday and Christmas morning all rolled into one big surprise. I have the privilege of saying thank you to The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Teacher2Teacher community for funding the remaining amount of my project! You can follow the link below to see what the project was all about or take a look at my two other projects going on now. Teaching Tolerance Through Puppet Play is brand new and eligible for matched donations for the next 7 days if you use the code LIFTOFF. You can always show me some love by posting links to my projects on your Facebook pages. You never know who may want to help out our classroom. 💙 -Mrs. SmithHi families, I am so excited to share the news that as a part of the Limeades for Learning program funded by SONIC in conjunction with Donors Choose, one of my projects was funded! In August, our classroom will have some components of the Osmo learning system for an iPad. I am so excited to share this fun technology with my new little groups of kinders and could not have done it without the help of some of you. Thank you Frazier family for your donation and also to Donna Bucher, a family friend of my mother. I want to also say thank you to Sebastian. I posted your sweet note on Twitter and it was liked by Donors Choose. Later that week SONIC donated over $200 to finish funding our project! Thank you SONIC for your support of classrooms all over the country! -Mrs. SmithHi families, I need your help spreading the word about my Donors Choose projects. I've seen Mrs. Tidwell and Mrs. Reyes get some really great things for their classrooms and I decided I needed to have a go at it! For just 3 more days if you entered the code LIFTOFF on my math project your donation will be doubled. Not sure if it will work on my Osmo project but it is worth a try. Another great way to help is to use the social meadia buttons on the project pages and post to your Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or Twitter accounts and use the hashtag #ThanksTeach. Sonic is finding projects to fully fund through the month of May! I realize these projects won't be here before your children leave me but your support is greatly appreciated. -Mrs. Smith |
