Hi families, I have some catching up to do! ABC countdown is so much fun but very tiring. I’ve gotten a little behind on our page a day blogging so I’m going to get caught up in one big post! D was for dinosaurs and dolls. We had share time to tell about the things we brought for the day. Our dolls provided some giggles as they crawled, talked, and even went potty! We spent the rest of our day doing research and labeling diagrams about different dinosaurs. Jonah’s mom even stopped by to do a fantastic lesson on paleontologists and how they excavate dinosaur bones. She even had a few real bones for us to hold! What a treat! E was for Earth. We learned what it means to be green and take care of our planet. We also had to finish up some of our dinosaur activities and make our own fossils! F was for field trip. We went to the Smyrna Bowling Center and received a behind the scenes look at how the machines work! The kids said f was also for fun and fall (we had a few bumps during the day). Our lady bug larvae and caterpillars also came on letter f day to add to the fun! We tried out our new broadcasting equipment from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation too. Microphones sure are fun in helping us practice our speaking skills! G was for games and grandparents (with some other family members too)! This has to be one of our favorite events as a class. The kids just love having their families here at school. We also had concession stand and house meetings to add to the busy day! Our technology coach also delivered 5 new laptops for our class. It is very exciting to add more technology opportunities to our classroom! So that was how we spent our incredibly eventful week! The fun just keeps coming as we near the end of our school year. I’m going to be sad to see summer come because we have such a great time together! -Mrs. Smith

Hi families! We reached the end of the year. Can you believe kindergarten is over for your little one? I have truely enjoyed each and every smiling face that I had the privilege of spending each day with in room G4! Things got so busy these last couple of weeks that I didn't find the time to update our class blog. Now that summer is here, I am officially avoiding cleaning my house by adding more pictures and a few final activities from May. Let's see... we had s for show and tell, t was all about Tennessee, u was for our U.S.A. (hopefully now they can tell you that stands for United States of America). Then there was v for visit Owl's Hill. This trip provided several kids with some firsts. First port a potty and first tick bite! Not the most enjoyable first but learning experiences all the same. We got to take a beautiful hike and see some owls up close. W day was for watermelon. Everyone tried at least one bite! X gave us a reason to have extra recess and y was a rainy year end day. Z was "zee last day of school" said in a horrible French accent! 😉. We even had time to throw in a career day event with 2 of our fabulous parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frazier, stopping by to teach us about serving our country in the military and the art of creative expression through music! I hope your children have loved kindergarten as much as I have loved being their teacher this year. If you will not be back at David Youree in the fall I wish you all the best! For the rest, I can't wait to see you in August to hear all about your summer and see your big first graders! 💙 -Mrs. Smith |
